You can see this badge and number next to it on every car description. It shows the condition as determined by the auction house’s technical inspection.
You can find the explanation below of the AAA JAPAN car condition grading standards:

S – Cars with less mileage than 10 000 km, often much less, with a registration date no more than 1 year before the auction. Cars marked with this letter are as new.

6 – Nearly new cars with a registration date of up to 3 years. Mileage ranges up to 30 000 km, usually up to 10 000 km. You may find a few barely visible scratches on the body of the car.

5 – Indicates used cars in excellent condition. The speedometer shows up to 50 000 km. There may be a few minor scratches on the bodywork, as well as some minor dents.

4.5 – Still in high demand, very tidy vehicles. Speedometer shows up to 100 000 km. Cars in this category are the most sought-after in terms of value for money.

4 – Cars that have not been involved in an accident. The speedometer can read up to 150 000 km. There may be visible scratches, cracks in the interior, cigarette holes or stains.

3.5 – Cars with visible scratches, dents, rust or corrosion are rare. Cracks, cigarette holes or stains are common in the interior of the car.

3 – Cars with extensive scratches, dents, paint spots, rust and corrosion. The interior may have many seat dents, cigarette holes or food stains.

2 – Cars in poor condition, often with rust and corrosion, but all sorts of technical faults can be found.

1 – Drowned, flooded vehicles.

RA – Cars that have been repaired after a regular accident.

R – Vehicles after an accident. These cars may have been repaired, but probably require additional handling.
