Explanation of Symbols Used in Japanese Auction Inspection Sheets
Body Panel Replacement and Repairs
XX – The body part has been replaced due to repair and/or repainted.
Scratches
A1 – Minor scratch that can usually be polished or easily repaired.
A2 – Medium-sized scratch on the top layer of paint that won’t be easy to hide.
A3 – Deep or intentional scratch (key mark), requiring repainting for full removal.
A4 – Very large and deep scratches (significant paint damage).
Dents and Deformations
U1 – Small dent.
U2 – Thumb-sized dent.
U3 – Palm-sized dent.
U4 – Very large dent.
B1 – Small dent with a scratch.
B2 – Medium dent with a scratch.
B3 – Large dent with a scratch.
B4 – Very large dent with a deep scratch (severe body damage).
Paint Condition
P1 – Very good condition (minimal or no defects).
P2 – Good condition but with minor imperfections.
P3 – Average condition with visible flaws or damage (scratches, dents).
P4 – Poor condition, significant defects, visible damage, possible repaint required.
Body Condition After Repainting
W1 – Repainting is barely noticeable.
W2 – Repainting is moderately noticeable.
W3 – Visible repainting marks.
W4 – Obvious body repairs, possibly poorly done repainting work.
Body Cracks
Y1 – Small hole or crack.
Y2 – Hole or crack.
Y3 – Large hole or crack.
Y4 – Very large hole or significant structural crack (serious damage).
Windshield Condition
G – Chip on the windshield.
X1 – Small windshield crack.
X – Windshield crack (requires glass replacement).
R – Repaired windshield crack.
RX – Repaired windshield crack (glass replacement needed).
Rust and Corrosion
C1 – Excellent chassis condition (no rust, damage, or structural issues).
C2 – Good chassis condition with minor signs of rust or wear.
C3 – Average chassis condition with visible rust, corrosion, or minor structural damage.
C4 – Below average chassis condition, heavily rusted or structurally damaged frame.
C5 – Poor chassis condition, severe rust, corrosion, or major structural damage.
Interior Condition
A – Excellent interior condition, minimal or no signs of wear.
B – Very good interior condition with slight wear marks.
C – Average interior condition with noticeable signs of use (worn seats, faded materials).
D – Below-average interior condition, significant wear (stains, upholstery tears).
E – Very poor interior condition, severe damage, major stains, or other defects.
